‘Matapas’ Mental Maths workshops for parents of Ranganna 3, 4, 5 took place before Easter.
Our aim is to ensure that parents are aware of the different methods used in calculation, thereby developing their confidence in supporting their children at home.
We had a total of three consecutive sessions:

Introduction to ‘Matapas’ and his sea friends who represent the various mental maths strategies.

2.
|
How to develop and use empty numberlines to improve mental maths agility.
|
|
3.
|
Games to reinforce learning of all the mental maths strategies.
|
On completion of the course all parents in attendance were provided with a support package and handbook.
We look forward to organising more workshops during the next school year.
